Ground control to Major Tom... 5 Steps to grounding yourself.

People often ask me " How can I learn to connect to Spirit?" followed closely by " Are there any ways to make the messages come through clearer, sharper, more accurately?" Whilst there is no way to fast track how Spirit chooses to communicate with you, there is one way that can open us up to the greater realm and this rather simple process is entirely the opposite of what many people think.

It is by being 100% percent present in our bodies.

The body is our tool, our vehicle. Having experienced burn out numerous times, I've learned the hard way that it is imperative to look after the house of your soul if you're wanting to do soul work...or even just wanting to work on your soul! We are spiritual beings having a human experience so it's acutely important to acknowledge and embrace that lesson. Yes, the body provides limitations but it's also our anchor and the stronger and more well cared for it is, the further we can explore spiritually, safe in the knowledge that we can get back to port, so to speak.

Heidi Jane talks about reality testing. Checking in to see what is actually happening around us and then double checking that information! If we aren't present in ourselves, how in the heck are we going to be able to feel or even come to understand where someone else is at? The two are mutually exclusive.

So without further ado... 5 simple steps to feeling more grounded.

Love the skin you're in...

1. Body
Take a good long look at yourself in the mirror. Look at everything that makes you, you. Thank your body for getting you this far. If you've experienced ill health, be grateful to your body for alerting you to the need of focussing your energy entirely on yourself. If you are healthy, be appreciative and make a vow to keep your vehicle as well oiled as humanly possible. Most of all be kind in the way you speak to yourself and your shell. It listens with every cell.

2. Breath
When I'm in a flap I'll suddenly take a sharp intake of breath and realise I've been shallow breathing all day. I stop and pull that breath all the way down into the pit of my belly and slooooowly release it out. It feels good, damn good, and tricks the body into believing it is calm. There are an infinite amount of meditation, yoga, breath work, etc courses out there that will teach you how to control the breath and get your blood and organs oxygenated. Find one. Its a wonderful gift to give to yourself.

3. Motion
If you're a walking fidget like myself and find it hard to meditate whilst sitting, try it in motion. Get out there and just move. Run, walk, swim, dance, skip. Just Do It. Go somewhere beautiful and drink in nature whilst gliding through the scenery. It'll get your synapses firing and help shake away any heavier emotions. It helps you get out of your own way. Paralysis by analysis finds it harder to get a look in.

4. Nourishment
There was this English television show I used to watch that would put a weeks worth of the meals consumed out in front of people who weren't eating correctly. Time and again there was one thing missing. Colour. Make sure your plate has a variety of natural colours adorning it. We are truly blessed to be offered such an incredible array of foods that its a crime not to take advantage of that! Juices make my mouth tingle with goodness. And my favourite...water. When was the last time you had a huge glassful of agua? As they say in the Military...hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

5. Intention
Set your intention to be an aware inhabitant of your bag of bones. Feel the air as it moves in and out of your body, listen intently, feel the warmth of your limbs or the cool of the breeze that surrounds you. Call the fragments of your soul back home. Sit with yourself for a while. It is only when you come back to you that something magical begins to happen. You feel something vastly greater than yourself watching. And watch it does.

Connecting to Spirit is an extraordinary experience. Just as powerful as connecting the the essence of yourself. The two are incredibly similar and profoundly different and they walk hand in hand together.

" If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." - Nietzche

Whilst written about something in an entirely different context, I feel the meaning still applies here. Wise words. Peace. xx

Don't believe the hype...

I have this secret place that I escape to, a place I call my rock. It's where magic happens. It's a rather large overhang of sandstone gorgeousness nestled into a cliff . It overlooks the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. I have to scurry over fences to get there  but at least that makes sure no one else will be there too! It is alive with birds, possums, dolphins and at the right time of year, whales. If I'm really lucky I get to see an eagle just chilling out on the updraft above me. Oh, to have wings!  We do, ours are just a little different.

It is my place of questions and ultimately my place of answers. I have laughed there and OH Lordy how I've cried!  When the world brought me to my knees, I would cry Uncle! and retreat to this ancient place. You know how as you grow older your bones sigh and groan? Thats exactly what I hear when I sit and listen to the sounds around me.  It's my place to speak to Spirit, my ancestors, myself.  Often I don't receive the answers I was searching for but I appreciate the honesty and am grateful for what does come through!  I feel held there, I feel safe.

Today was magnificent. It was warm and electric with the promise of Spring in the air. I watched a flock of seagulls engulf a school of fish thrashing about on the waters surface. The light danced and shimmered on the ocean, which heaved giant exhales onto the boulders below. As is my routine, I exhaled with her and then closed my eyes. I regulated my breath and dived within.  Almost instantly, I could feel "them", my posse so to speak. I've learned to be patient and just let them show themselves in their own time and today they arrived pronto. My breathing become deeper and with it my connection. That connection, that link, and the conversation that followed was so profound, so calm and so loving that I was almost overwhelmed by the emotion of it all.  It was like a very old wise man speaking to a young child and taking that child's hand in his. I felt guided and understood. Protected. I pretty much lost it in the best of ways. Who needs drugs?

It makes me feel inspired, passionate, powerful ... ALIVE. I thanked them and toddled off home, calmer and more focused than ever before.

Do you have a rock? A place to go to and just be? A sanctuary? Is it the forest, the beach, the bathtub? In a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages that define us as who we are by what we own, by how much stuff we can accumulate, that more will always be better, it's wonderful to just strip it all back to the bare essentials. To not buy, literally or figuratively into the hype. You are not your face cream, you are not your car, you are not your age, you are not your bank balance. You are far deeper and more complex than any cursory glance at your life could ever ascertain and you are changing every single minute. Let yourself.  Be fluid. "Become water my friend."*

You are a fuqing kaleidoscope, a myriad of thoughts and dreams and cells and you have a duty to honour that.
Never, never, never let anyone tell you otherwise. Not even you. Peace. xxx

It's in the way that you use it...

Years ago I worked in a bookstore that also provided readings. Upstairs Downstairs I called it. My duties for downstairs were to look after the shop and to sell beautiful crystals, esoteric loveliness and of course, the aforementioned books.

Upstairs was where the readings were done. It was a dusty, ramshackle, little old nook but the perfect place for me to find my feet as a reader.  What struck me as perplexing, frustrating and at times, hilarious was how people's perception of me altered drastically when they found out I was a reader. I had one very snotty and overbearing lady do a complete and utter backflip when she found out it would be I, silly shop girl , reading for her the next day!

You see, some folk think that doing this work automatically makes you a more evolved, kinder or even angelic person. Ummm...no. The other half want to string you up for being a charlatan! Remember that psychics are people too and we are all learning as we go. None of us have all the answers. Einstein said " The more I learn, the more I realise how much I don't know. " Our brains would literally short circuit in the face of something of such magnitude. Wherever you find people, you'll find ego and this industry is rife with "I'm the duck's nuts , so get out of my way " type love n lighters. Alrighty...on your bike then. Namaste.

My main gig is getting people to tap in to their own power. Into their own intuition. I'm not a God or a Guru, nor would I ever want to be one. I love it when people's B.S. detectors are fine-tuned and sharp as a tack. Scepticism is healthy ( cynicism is an entirely different ball game). My clients are often asked to sit with a message that has just been shared and to feel it. Does their gut call a hell's no!? Or does their whole being turn to caramel from the sheer relief of realising that they are the masters of their own destiny? I'm all over my clients taking the reigns of their lives back into their own hands.

So how do you get closer to recognising that, sometimes distant, voice called your soul?

Here are a few pointers from my own experience. This is all I can speak from.

- Get some time to yourself. Getting lost in other people's drama and opinion's will only drown out your inner voice. Listen intently.

- Take care of your body. We are in it for a reason. Its our human lesson. The soul is given weight by it and we must learn to live within those limitations. But we also get to discover chocolate, silly dancing, a bit of nudge nudge wink wink. Give it a hand by feeding it properly, resting it, loving it. Whichever shape or size it comes in.

- Hang out with zee animals. Get your hiney back into nature. Listen to the wind rustling through the trees, the complex and magnificent bird calls. Sit and breathe with our Mother Ocean.

- Be patient. Spirit communicates with us in very unique and sometimes, extremely subtle ways. Attune your energy to those subtleties. A shift in temperature, a light touch upon your skin, a tune or verse that you can't seem to shake....these are all ways we can experience "the other side".

- If you don't understand what is being shown, felt, heard etc...ask. And then ask again. Keep asking. Be inquisitive. Be curious. Be open.

- Don't throw tanties with the big guns. It's like a street punk shaking his cap gun at the Godfather. Don't demand- its a sure fire way to get Nada. Zip. Zilch. And it makes you look like a goose. Be humble. Be grateful. If you're hell bent on hearing one particular thing you may miss hundreds of signs. And I'll say it again...be humble.

-Lastly, don't take everything so seriously. Spirit has an incredible sense of humour! Sometimes I'll be in a meditation or yoga class and look around and think how bloody silly we all look or sound. Smile a little. Yes, this work has an incredibly serious side which I respect infinitely but if Great Aunty Esmerelda had a cracking sense of humour here, she's sure as hell going to have one over there!

As Obi-Wan Kenobi said ..."Use the Force, Luke." But use it well and keep it real. Don't be a tool about it. I'm with team Eric Clapton when he sang "It's in the way that you use it"...Be kind, be happy. Peace xx

Welcome to my head...

So this is my first. blog. ever! I'll be writing about what life is like being a psychic and what it's like just being me. It's an odd "skill" to make a crust out of and is by no means the easiest path in the world. You've got to do a bit of Dragon slaying but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger huh?

You meet all walks of life in this gig and what I like to call "the usual suspects" will always tend to crop up in a reading. Work, health, family. But knocking all of these out of the ball park is love. Yep, this four letter word will undoubtedly drive each and every one of us completely bonkers at some time in our lives. Whether its wanting to get into a partnership or wanting to get out of one, this verb ( yes...love is a verb) is THE reason why we are here. Forget everything else. It can bring us to our knees or elevate us beyond our wildest dreams and everything you could possibly imagine in between.

It is the ONLY thing that matters to those who have made the long journey home. After having a chat to those upstairs you are left with no doubt that it is our raison d'être...our reason for existence. This is what makes up the Hooman Experience. So take a note from the books of these people's lives, let it sink in and learn it whilst your still HERE, gosh darn it.  Express it however you like ...whether through a lover, dedicating yourself to a cause, being of aid to your your fellow man or zee fluffy and not so fluffy animals. Be kind.

If you've found it then look after it. Nurture that schizz. Be thankful. If you love someone...tell them. Tru love funnies time. If you're still looking...nurture yourself. Keep going. Have faith. Love yourself first and foremost. The course of our lives can change in a heartbeat..or two.

We all need it, rich, poor, young and old. You can never judge a book by it's cover in this industry. We read between the lines. It's our job to bypass the head and go, quite literally, to the heart of the matter. And what matters, ultimately, is the heart. Over n out. Peace. xxx
