July Skies 2018

Soooooo, at any given time throughout the course of July we will have 5 planets and one asteroid in retrograde, ie going backwards. Planets never actually go backwards but to us hoomans on earth it seems so. And its all about us apparently. 


What does this rather unusual lineup foretell? Well, retrograde activity is one where the energies of a particular planet become internalised. With half of the solar system contemplating its navel it can make even the most seemingly straightforward of plans become weighed down, experience hitches or delays or be completely abandoned altogether. This brings to the surface feelings of resentment, agitation or exhaustion. But this is life and we’ve got to learn to roll with it. It is not something to be fearful about but more conscious of. 


If this is you, trust me, you won’t be the only one feeling this way. And this is precisely why I’m writing about it. Because the energy of July introduces the eclipses to boot. So there is a strong push for change ( eclipses ) at the same time as things moving much slower than may be comfortable ( retrogrades ). Dummy spits, eruptions and getting our cranky trousers in a God Almighty twist are potential manifestations. As is the complete opposite: manipulation, passive aggression, underhanded sneaky pants type behaviour. 

Best way to deal? Review what is most important to you, what you hold true and dear. Be open to options that you hadn’t even considered. Close one door before trying to break down another. Cut out the dead wood in your world. This includes financial, emotional and spiritual habits that are holding you down.Or back. Slowly and steadily releasing the bottleneck to get to the real juice. The elixir of life. 

And if you see others in free fall? Please bring compassion to the table. 

July is a hot tamale alright compañeros. You’ll taste the first hint of spice from the 5th of the month to the 9th. Your opinions may get you into hot water if you aren’t willing to acknowledge those of others. Fortunately there are some lovely aspects to ease tension and help us see eye to eye. Creative types will be on fire. 

Jupiter, our Greater Benefic, moves forward on the 10th of July enhancing our luck and encouraging us to reach out and touch faith. Plans gone awry since March are on the cards once more. Remember to take your time and research as much as possible. 

On the same day beautiful Venus moves into streamlined Virgo where she will stay until August 6. This is a great time to channel all that pent up retrograde energy into anything and everything functional, well maintained and eliminating toxins from your being. And your soul.

Venus meets wildcard Uranus on the 12th of the month and offers support in changing the way you think about matters of emotions and your worth. This is good because also on this day we have the effervescent Sun having a showdown with powerful Pluto. If someone tries to control or make you feel less than, be mindful they can only do so with your permission. 

The above energy is extremely apparent the next day on the 13th of July with the first of our eclipses in the security loving sign of Cancer. This New Moon Solar eclipse is very much enmeshed in the Plutonian issues of power, control, manipulation, transformation and breaking down all that no longer is valid.  As the Moon darkens the Sun, the depth of our feelings about particular themes involving home, family and nurturance bubble to the surface. This begins a fresh 6 month cycle of realigning your outside to match the inside. 

The Sun moves into gorgeous Leo on the 22nd of the month sparking our passions and the need to shine. And why the hell not I say? If you don’t, no one will do it for you. 

The 24th, 25th and 26th of July invites detours and distractions particularly in our social, romantic and financial lives. Keep a very close eye on expenditures whether energetic or monetary. Communications planet Mercury begins his retrograde on the 26th of the month until the August the 19th causing potential stuff ups and crossed wires. I have however, found it an interesting time for lost objects and people from the past reappearing. 

The longest total Lunar Eclipse of the century makes its debut on the 27th of July. Hold onto your hats babies! This  is one fiery, fiesty Blood Moon. Lunar eclipses by nature are times of endings, letting go and release. People, aspirations, ways of being suddenly become invalid. The Earth throws its shadow across the Moon, pushing the emotional reset button. It clears away the rubbish. This is a highly unpredictable time due to links from headstrong Mars and erratic Uranus. Steer clear from those who love drama and think ohhhhhh, about 1000 times before acting.

And there you have it. Something ends. Something begins. There may be a real before and after feeling to July. Our terrain different, our perspective altered. May it bring you to a place of wonder, peace and firm, supportive foundations to build your dreams upon.
