August skies...

​Forgive me for my tardiness. This retrograde ensemble has, it seems, reversed all over me and literally taken the wind out of my sails. Whilst I’m loathe to ever use astrology as an excuse for, well, life just happening, I’ve watched the dates closely and this time seems to be doing a fantastic two step all over my chart. Onwards and upwards as my Mum always says…


Welcome to August babies. This month looks set to be pivotal, full of intrigue and with just the right amount of drama that this Leo time thrives on. Throughout the next 31 days we will have half the skies and one major asteroid in contemplation mode or retrograde as us stargazers like to call it. The pent up energy of July continues with no apparent reprieve but the calvary is coming, trust me on this. Even if they feel somewhat far off in the distance and ohhhhh, sans compass, map, clue. 

Keep this in mind on the 2nd of the month when rebellious Uranus clashes with a tetchy and worn out Mars. The latter chunk of rock is still in retrograde and not up to being tested. Neither are we. Outbursts and outings of secrets or opinions are high on the agenda today. Those who keep calm, speak softly and carry a big stick are rewarded, even if it takes a few weeks for the dust to settle. Tantrum throwing and ruthlessness most definitely are not. 

Plans made together for a brighter future are written on the 6th of August, especially if this protects forthcoming generations. The hopeful Sun meets expansive Jupiter broadening our visions and urging us to connect with others. Venus comes home in the sign of savvy Libra on the same day where she will stay on and off until December. You will seek more peace and harmony with those around you and fairness and balance will be strong themes. Libra and nature both abhor a vacuum but make sure that you fill your life with something of meaning,  not what you think you need to be liked or loved. 

Revolutionary Uranus shifts gears on the 7th of the month and adds to the tally of 6 planets in retrograde. At what cost individuality? What does freedom mean to you? These questions and more will be on your mind until January 2019. 

The 8th and 9th of August is lively, sociable and sparks attractions of the romantic and intellectual kind. Oh la la! Get out there and enjoy! 

Lovely Venus gets into a bit of a tangle with stern Saturn on the 10th of the month. She was having such a great time of late that she forgot to pay bills and due respect to those who matter most or focus at work. Do all of the above to appease cranky pants and see your life get back on track. 

The New Moon Solar Eclipse on the 11th of August urges us to take note from Saturn and not promise more than we can deliver. Solar Eclipses essentially engulf all of the Solar traits of analysis and logic to reveal the more Moon driven world of intuition and creativity. But given the very Mercurial nature of this Moon we may get carried away with the ideal of what we want to achieve instead of the nuts and bolts to anchor a dream. Solar Eclipses are quite unstable times and can slam shut and fling open doors with dizzying speed. Think long term and you should stay off the whirly gig. 

Fiesty Mars in retrograde steps back into Capricorn on the 13th of the month placing conversations had in May front and centre again. You will feel extremely compelled to tie up loose ends now but please be aware that this is a work in progress and you may not see the finished results until after September 10.

The 18th and the 19th of August are full of promise as talk planet Mercury inches forward again and meets with optimistic Jupiter. Jupiter also aligns with Neptune raising our sights and bolstering our confidence. Glory be. 

On the 23th of the month the Sun comes to visit streamlined and focused Virgo. Two days later on the 25th we have a wonderful Grand Earth Trine with the Sun, future oriented Uranus and sturdy and disciplined Saturn. Make hay while the Sun shines! This time can see your visions of tomorrow firmly take hold in today. Reach out to those who also share this vision. 

The Full Moon in the sign of Pisces on the 26th of August forms a gorgeous kite formation in the heavens. This pattern activates growth and the harnessing of opportunities in our lives. Pisces speaks to what our soul truly needs for an awakening to occur. This is our hearts yearning and the meaning of life, not just balancing our bank accounts. What stirs your spirit?

Venus steps on Pluto’s toes on the same day. Take heed of the aforementioned themes and do not be manipulated by the darker side of your desire nature or someone else's for that matter!

Mars - finally! - turns direct on the 27th of the month. It will take some time to move forward and gain speed but you may feel a very distinct shift in your energies then as the planet of action, battle, sexuality and military strategy dusts itself off and gets back on its feet. All of the lessons learned and crappy behaviour witnessed from the 26th of June will be dealt with with a firm hand. Parasites and rodents beware. Mars is just about to send you scurrying.
