December skies...

I’m not a big believer in labelling particular years as “good” or “bad”, after all, its only a day that separates years. But there are some which get right up under your nose, or prove more trying than others. The old Annus horribilis one two punch as Her Majesty famously quoted. 2018 may have been especially taxing for many, as our most personal planets went awol and royally stuffed up the most well laid out plans. The relationships we had at years beginning are not the ones we are left with at years end. Not by a long shot. That includes the ones we have with ourselves. 


December sees the last of this retrograde confusion when Mercury, our ideas and thinking planet, moves forward on the 6th of the month. With the overwhelming majority of the heavens hitting the ground running, so now, should we. As above, so below. Sure, it’ll take until the 24th for the fog to truly lift but expect to see conversations that were thrown into disarray from as early as October the 28th to be finally, mercifully, dealt with. Case closed. And when I say fog, I truly mean it. This retrograde's “signature" if you will, was a nasty little square to Neptune, the planet of illusion, delusion and deception. These two planets in an uncomfortable aspect can really bring out those darker qualities in those willing to go there. Unfortunately, many did.


Mercury is in Scorpio - again - from December the 1st until the 12th, aiding us to dig deep and reassess a core issue that has been lurking with intent from late October. Whilst Scorpio energy can be secretive it can also be bitingly honest. Do take the high road. Even if it gives you a nose bleed. 

The first day of the month also sees Lady Love Venus in the final tangle with wildcard Uranus for the year. Amour and cold hard cash have been prone to more than a few twists and turns. There may have been a few shocks along the way. You can effectively shimmy out of themes from September the 12th and October the 31st now. All breathe a collective sigh. Ahhhh freedom.  

Venus slips into Scorpio’s deep waters once again on December the 2nd where she will languish until January the 7th 2019. Pencil in the 17th of December when the recent Venus retrograde comes full circle and is released. Healing steps in where our self worth, value or values took a nose dive. If anyone or thing has made you feel less than, especially since early September, use the restorative waters of this powerful sign to crest the wave and swim away to inner calm. 

Can you feel the shift of the first few days of December? Like cleaning up after the storm. Get your buckets ready!

The 3rd and the 5th of the month see’s the Sun in expansive Sagittarius wrangle first with feisty Mars and then with dreamy Neptune. Actions initiated on the 3rd may become as clear as mud on the 5th. If in doubt, don’t. 

These two planets are pivotal in the New Moon in Sagittarius on the 7th of December. The sign of the Archer is focussed, forthright and maybe a tad too honest at times. With Mars and most importantly Neptune in the equation, issues surrounding anger, resentment, competitors and our will veer into decidedly murky territory and potentially become underhanded, unethical, confusing and at worst immoral. The making of or the spilling of secrets is another joyous possibility. The heightening of our creativity and romantic natures abounds, but do, I implore you, play nice. And fair. Anyone hear passive aggression? I sure as hell did. The best way to use this time is to act with sheer integrity, for it costs nothing, even if others seem to be profiting by swimming in the gutter. Spirit sees all, and takes note accordingly. We all have to pay the piper one day. 

Forward thinking Uranus inches forward from the Anaretic or 29th degree on the same day, liberating and encouraging us to relight our fires and rethink our strategies until March of 2019. Make hay whilst the Sun shines pilgrims. 

Busy Mercury leaps back into fiery Sagittarius on the 12th of December where it will roam until January the 5th 2019. All that pensive navel gazing of the last few months gets put into action now. Watch your mouth during this time because, boy oh boy, Sagittarius is a straight shooter and abhors B.S. Make sure you’ve got your facts straight before jumping off the deep end. That goes double for December the 25th. 

The 16th of December until the 21st of the month feels filled with promise. There are some very beautiful and supportive transits during this time. Loving Venus to stable Saturn on the 16th anchors plans made around relationships and finances, sexy Mars to passionate Pluto on the 17th encourages stamina and resurrecting your purpose and those of your dreams, the warm and creative Sun to innovative Uranus on the 20th urges you to think outside the box, Venus to wistful Neptune on the 21st gently brings in romance and soul connections. Clever Mercury joins with optimistic Jupiter on the same day, opening your eyes and your heart to all of life's potential. This particular transit won’t happen again until January of 2020 so dream big baby. Lordy, it's a biggie. 

The Sun moves into conscientious Capricorn on the 21st of the month to boot. Those dreams just got a beautiful foundation from which to take seed and grow. It stays in this ambitious Earth Sign until January the 20th 2019. 

The Cancer Full Moon on December the 22nd is like a lightbulb flickering on. Theres something amazing when the Moon moves into its home sign and this one really wants to see you leave behind the crap storm of the last few months. Especially from late July of this year. How have you changed? Aspects to groundbreaking Uranus have you looking at your emotional world in a completely different light and right in time for the ending of the year that was 2018. Sounds good to me Mamma. The Venus/ Neptune contact is super strong with this Moon, enhancing our more noble qualities and embracing fellowship. Lovely. 

Navigate your way through Christmas Day, December the 25th,  as the undercurrents from the 12th of the month are back. Don’t get swept away in someone else’s drama. Don’t play anyone for a fool. And don’t be anyones fool.

The 28th of December rounds out the years end nicely as gorgeous Venus and the Phoenix Pluto unite harmoniously. This is brilliant for restoring depleted energies, implementing self care and coming back looking and feeling better than ever. And right in time for New Years. As Elizabeth Taylor once said “ Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together.” Let the naysayers step off. You’ve only got one life and its yours to celebrate. Shoot for the stars.
