People often ask me " How can I learn to connect to Spirit?" followed closely by " Are there any ways to make the messages come through clearer, sharper, more accurately?" Whilst there is no way to fast track how Spirit chooses to communicate with you, there is one way that can open us up to the greater realm and this rather simple process is entirely the opposite of what many people think.
It is by being 100% percent present in our bodies. The body is our tool, our vehicle. Having experienced burn out numerous times, I've learned the hard way that it is imperative to look after the house of your soul if you're wanting to do soul work...or even just wanting to work on your soul! We are spiritual beings having a human experience so it's acutely important to acknowledge and embrace that lesson. Yes, the body provides limitations but it's also our anchor and the stronger and more well cared for it is, the further we can explore spiritually, safe in the knowledge that we can get back to port, so to speak. Heidi Jane talks about reality testing. Checking in to see what is actually happening around us and then double checking that information! If we aren't present in ourselves, how in the heck are we going to be able to feel or even come to understand where someone else is at? The two are mutually exclusive. So without further ado... 5 simple steps to feeling more grounded. Love the skin you're in... 1. Body Take a good long look at yourself in the mirror. Look at everything that makes you, you. Thank your body for getting you this far. If you've experienced ill health, be grateful to your body for alerting you to the need of focussing your energy entirely on yourself. If you are healthy, be appreciative and make a vow to keep your vehicle as well oiled as humanly possible. Most of all be kind in the way you speak to yourself and your shell. It listens with every cell. 2. Breath When I'm in a flap I'll suddenly take a sharp intake of breath and realise I've been shallow breathing all day. I stop and pull that breath all the way down into the pit of my belly and slooooowly release it out. It feels good, damn good, and tricks the body into believing it is calm. There are an infinite amount of meditation, yoga, breath work, etc courses out there that will teach you how to control the breath and get your blood and organs oxygenated. Find one. Its a wonderful gift to give to yourself. 3. Motion If you're a walking fidget like myself and find it hard to meditate whilst sitting, try it in motion. Get out there and just move. Run, walk, swim, dance, skip. Just Do It. Go somewhere beautiful and drink in nature whilst gliding through the scenery. It'll get your synapses firing and help shake away any heavier emotions. It helps you get out of your own way. Paralysis by analysis finds it harder to get a look in. 4. Nourishment There was this English television show I used to watch that would put a weeks worth of the meals consumed out in front of people who weren't eating correctly. Time and again there was one thing missing. Colour. Make sure your plate has a variety of natural colours adorning it. We are truly blessed to be offered such an incredible array of foods that its a crime not to take advantage of that! Juices make my mouth tingle with goodness. And my favourite...water. When was the last time you had a huge glassful of agua? As they say in the Military...hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. 5. Intention Set your intention to be an aware inhabitant of your bag of bones. Feel the air as it moves in and out of your body, listen intently, feel the warmth of your limbs or the cool of the breeze that surrounds you. Call the fragments of your soul back home. Sit with yourself for a while. It is only when you come back to you that something magical begins to happen. You feel something vastly greater than yourself watching. And watch it does. Connecting to Spirit is an extraordinary experience. Just as powerful as connecting the the essence of yourself. The two are incredibly similar and profoundly different and they walk hand in hand together. " If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." - Nietzche Whilst written about something in an entirely different context, I feel the meaning still applies here. Wise words. Peace. xx
